Kristy Foye, Orchestra Grades 4-8
Ms. Kristy Foye is the orchestra director for grades 4-8. She teaches students at HHR/FLO Elementary as well as Easton Middle School. She received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Berklee College of Music and her graduate degree from the Boston Conservatory. In 2006, Ms. Foye began her music education career at the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Brighton, MA, teaching violin to students in grades 1-5. From 2009-2011, Ms. Foye worked for the Marblehead Public Schools as Orchestra Director for grades 3-12. In addition to teaching in the public school system, Ms.Foye was also a violin instructor for the Boston Conservatory’s Program for Students on the Autism Spectrum. As a cellist, Ms.Foye has pursued a diverse career in music, having performed and recorded with a variety of ensembles throughout the Boston area. Ms. Foye recently recorded cello parts on an album for singer/songwriter, Walter Rodriguez and performs in his backing band, The Night Owls.
On the weekends, Ms. Foye is busy playing wedding and party gigs as a member of the Mosaic String Ensemble.
Ms. Foye is a proponent for teaching ‘alternative string styles’ by incorporating improvisation, rock/pop, jazz and world music genres into the orchestra classroom.
During the summer, Ms. Foye teaches middle school music students at Berklee College of Music as part of the Day Sessions program. More information can be found here.
